Does Facebook advertising work? In a word: yes.

facebook.gifIn launching broadandcecil.com I mulled over many forms of advertising. And then I slapped my self in the forehead and remembered we are at a college where students live on Facebook.

So we only let the outside world know about the blog by displaying it on the front page of the paper and by running Facebook flyers. I also encouraged staffers to put the links in their profiles as well as integrate their Wordpress author RSS feeds to automatically add to their Facebook “Posted Items”. So where did the first two days of traffic come from?

<– See for yourself. Although it doesn’t look like much, the 1’s go on for another page. And as an added little bonus I can see what staff members have the most trafficked Facebook profiles (always worth the bragging rights).

I’ll have to do the exact math later when our ad runs off of Facebook, but I’d say so far so good.

Last year at Scranton we noticed how powerful Facebook ads were when we advertised school sponsored events that way. Our number of people attending jumped quite a bit.

On another note, you should consider Google Analytics for site traffic analysis. It’s got a lot of great tools and provides a lot of information.

I used Facebook ads to recruit for an organization, yet somehow it never crossed my mind that I could promote my blog that way…

    Good idea.

I am considering using advertising on Face Book to advertise apartments. Do you think it is worth it?

I’m wondering if Facebook advertising would be good for my Swiss Replica Watch site.

I used facebook ad and in 3 days I got 200 visits on my site. Even though I didn’t get a customer but I indeed got traffic.

They key is to test test test! You will never know what works. Think demographics and targeting. Does the “facebook” crowd want what you are selling or promoting? Do some great website analysis with alexa.com and quantcast.com.

    Good luck!
