awesome, I’ve been evaluating wpmu vs drupal vs EE vs MT myself for my own ‘newspaper’ish site. I hadn’t quite finalised my decision until I stumbled across yours. wpmu wins for simplicity.

What are the downsides to College Publisher?

We’re in the process of moving The Miami Hurricane‘s site from College Publisher to Drupal. Those are really good points, particularly about high turnover and ease of use. I’d be interested to hear more of your thoughts re: Drupal vs. WPMU.

Flexibility is my favorite part of WordPress, hands down. Plugins are great, if well developed.

And being on the receiving end of turnaround, it really is a fairly painless process.

the biggest issue is turnover, as you said, at college newspapers. the paper needs to develop an institutional memory – traditions, well read documents, strong leaders – who will pass things on, without being afraid of improving on them.
